Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) was born in a family of idol worshippers but he understood from a very young age, that there is no God worthy of worship but Allah,

He always obeyed Allah’s commands.

One day Allah (subhanahu wata ala) ordered him to take his wife, Bibi Hajra, and his son Ismail (Alaihis Salam) to Makkah.

At that time, Makkah was only a barren land. There were no trees or water, and not even people existed.

As Allah’s command Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) left with some dates and water and prepared to leave.

When Bibi Hajira came to know about this she realize that the land was so barren.

She wondered how she and her baby Ismail (Alaihis Salam) would survive in that barren land.

She tried to convenience Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) to change his mind but Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) remained quiet.

Finally, as he walked away, Bibi Hajra called Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) and asked him,

“Did Allah send you his command to leave us from here?”

Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) answered “yes” in a very polite way.

Bibi Hajra felt comforted. She kept her trust in Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) and said,

“If that is the case, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) will certainly protect us and take care of us, He will never neglect us.

Bibi Hajra suckled Ismail and survived on the dates and water left by Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam), after spending some time on that barren land there were no dates, and water was left over.

Soon, both Bibi Hajra and Ismail (Alaihis Salam) were thirsty, she could not even feed Ismail as she could not produce any more milk.

As she was very thirsty she had to go out looking for water. she left Ismail (Alaihis Salam) on the ground and ran in the scorching heat between the two small hills Mount al-Safa and Mount al-Marwa in search of water.

She ran between the hills seven times, But Bibi Hajra did not find any water and Ismail was crying non-stop as he was hungry and thirsty.

While crying in a distraught state, Ismail was kicking the ground and suddenly Bibi Hajra noticed that water was flowing from the spot where Ismail was kicking.

Carefully, she collected some water for herself and was soon able to feed Ismail (Alaihis Salam).

(This is the reason walking between the two small hills mount Al-Safa and mount Al-Marwa is an essential ritual in Umrah and Hajj called Saee)

This miracle of Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) has made Zamzam holy and sacred water, and it has not stopped flowing since then.

Water is a source of life and after Makkah had water, people began to come and live there.

Soon, Makkah became an important city because people from all over the world came to settle there.

The moral of the above article is

Always have trust in Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) he will never put us in difficulty.
